A little help finding the good old things.
Vintage Lens is a Safari extension for browsing Facebook Marketplace on your Mac.
Get started
- Open the Vintage Lens Mac app.
- In Safari, open Settings → Extensions and enable Vintage Lens. Allow the extension to access facebook.com when Safari asks.
- Open Facebook Marketplace in Safari and refresh the page. You’ll need your own access to Facebook Marketplace.
Your controls, explained
- Search: search Marketplace from the widget.
- Vintage-ness: adjust filter strength. The percentage is a control setting, not a guarantee of authenticity.
- I’ll drive: choose a distance in miles. With location enabled, this is an approximate straight-line radius to listing town centers—not a driving route.
- See Everything: pause vintage and style filtering. Locals Only remains separate.
- Locals Only: filter out listings identified as shipping, remote, or outside the selected area.
- Style tags: select the styles you want. More than one tag uses “any selected style” matching.
- Show Retail: include or exclude listings the app identifies as retail inventory.
The results count covers listings Facebook has already loaded. Vintage Lens doesn’t search all Marketplace inventory or certify age, condition, value, or seller claims.
Use your current location
Select Use my location in the widget and allow the macOS permission prompt. A Mac may determine location using nearby Wi-Fi rather than a GPS receiver. To change permission later, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Town names that are missing or ambiguous may be excluded. If location isn’t available, the extension may use a supported area displayed by Marketplace; it does not silently assume every user is in Savannah.
Something not working?
- No widget: check Safari’s extension checkbox and website access, then refresh Marketplace. This extension does not run inside the Facebook app or other browsers.
- Too few results: increase the distance, reduce Vintage-ness, or deselect style tags. Check Locals Only and Show Retail separately.
- Incorrect classification: filtering is based on listing evidence and can make mistakes. Review the original listing before buying.
- Layout problems: disable the extension in Safari to restore the native page. Facebook’s layout can change; report the affected page and what you saw.
